Capturing Dazzling Newborn Pictures

newborn photographyWhen you take your first newborn pictures, how did you feel? Were you disappointed or satisfied? Newborn photography is a trend that every new mother wants in. It’s a lucrative business and on your first job you’re probably going with the flow; problems probably did or did not arise.

Here, however, we’re going to present you with things you should start noting down before accepting your next newborn photography assignment. Hopefully, whatever little mess that newborns make will not stop you from snapping cute pictures of them!

Tired mothers!

When it’s about newborn photography, it means 10 days after getting discharged from the hospital for the mothers. This may mean that they are still tired and need some more rest. It is important that you do not burden parents with a lot of Dos and Don’ts. Simply tell them ways to ease the process and convince them that the process if going to be fun and relaxed.

Have refreshments ready and explain to them if they are going to be included in the pictures and tell them to wear casual, nice-looking outfit. After taking those family portraits, simply sit back and relax!

Newly born baby

For babies who are just a couple of days old, it is important that you pay attention to its comfort. These babies are still sensitive to cold and wake up easily when they are hungry.

Set your studio at a comfortable temperature. Have blankets ready to wrap them in. Don’t wear the clothes that are hard to take-off as it may wake them up.

You should suggest mothers bring an extra cloth for the baby to wear when they go home. Also, to expect that they may need to feed the baby in the middle of the session for easier posing. This is because some mothers have a strict schedule of feeding their babies.

There are several famous poses that you probably found on Pinterest. In cases where the baby is unable to stay on a certain pose for too long, get an assistant or the parents to hold the baby. You can edit them out later if you use a simple background.

Placing them sleeping on their tummy with legs folded in on a beach chair is also a good pose. Don’t forget to lay a piece of the blanket on the chair!

Baby’s awake? Don’t worry! Snap the time when baby’s eyes start to flutter open. Even during the time when the mother scoops the baby up with care and love, that lovely expression, is a chance to steal some great pictures!

Placing the small baby in daddy’s big hand is also a great way to emphasize the fragility and how small such a big moment is.

Stay safe!

At all time, keep your studio hazardous free. You can do this by always having your assistant keep an eye when you have to leave the set for a moment. If there are certain poses that you are unsure about, don’t try them with these newborns. They are living things that can fall and hurt, and you don’t want your clients to walk out of your studio spreading how evil you are.

You should also keep your props clean and regularly dust the studio. Aside from keeping the baby safe, parents are also glad to know that their photographer truly cares about their baby’s health.

Interesting Things To Know About Newborn Photography

A creative take on newborn photography is for you to go ahead and take out the color.

newborn photography tipsA black and white color scheme is something interesting and something that you will be able to play around with during the baby photography shoot. It just far more than just having an artistic take on things though. A black and white take on the photos that you take in baby photography is something that can actually work to your advantage. Babies usually come along with a lot of skin blemishes and issues with skin pigmentation.

Shooting the baby photography shoot sans color of any kind will get to help you more or less eliminate that problem right then and there. Something that is in black and white will also get to make sure that the photos come out softer and somewhat classier than usual and it is something that you should definitely try to go ahead and explore for as long as you are given enough artistic liberties to go ahead and do so when it all comes down to it. You should take note to not shoot all of your photos in black and white though. This should only be limited to a certain number of photos that you shoot on the side. Most of the baby photography shoot should still be colored unless otherwise specifically stated by the clients.

Make use of the continuous shooting mode in baby photography.

This particular kind of method will basically ensure that you don’t get to miss any important moments during the baby photography shoot. You can’t really pick the moments that are the most noteworthy or the most picture worthy when it all comes down to it. Babies can be extremely unpredictable and the fact that they don’t really know how to speak up or express what they would like to say add up to that particular difficulty that you are coming across with. Setting your camera in a mode that is able to shoot continuously will make sure that all of the moments will be captured in the best possible way. Nothing will ever be too fleeting and nothing will ever get to come by a little too fast because nothing will escape your camera sensor when it all comes down to it. You will just go ahead and pick the best moments out of the series of shots that you are able to take. It will make things so much easier to sift through and you won’t have to stress yourself out too much with the aspect of having to miss any important shots during the baby photography shoot because you won’t end up missing any in the first place.

Make sure that the baby is comfortable and at ease all throughout the baby photography shoot.

If you are shooting in a studio or an indoor setting, then go ahead and make sure that the temperature is kept controlled and comfortable as much as possible. You should also work around the baby. Go out of your way to get the baby to feel more at home in the scene or in the stage that you have set out during the Calgary newborn photography shoot.
